In Memory of Dorin Atias
The Next October Initiative
The 7th of October is a heartbreaking Memorial Day in Israel. While we are still living the tragedy every single day, on this date we state in the memory of the elderly, babies, youth, women, and men, slaughtered by Hamas terrorists on what started as a peaceful holiday morning on October 7th, 2023. We wish to bring you the story of one of the families that were torn to pieces that day: the family of the late Dorin Atias.
Dorin “Dora” Atias, 23, from Ganei Tikva, Israel, was murdered by Hamas terrorists while working at the Supernova music festival on October 7, 2023.
Dorin was considered opinionated from a very young age. She was a brilliant student, beautiful, diligent, and a performing dancer. She was a child of the outdoors, a scout instructor, a talented footvolley player who loved the sea. After her army service ,in 2021 she took a long trip to South America, , and made many new strong friendships along her way. According to her mother, she was an extremely friendly and caring person, happy and living her life to the fullest.
As Dorin’s mother, Tali stated:
On October 7th 2023, Dorin worked at the Supernova music festival a bartender with two of her friends. She arrived at the party near Kibbutz Re’im at 2.55 am so she could enjoy the sunrise before her shift starts, at 8:00 am.
6:29 am: Dorin called her mother to say that rockets were being fired at them.
6:34 am: Dorin sent a text message to update she and her friends were okay. At this time there were sirens going off all over the country.
6:40 am: Dorin called to say that the party is over, and the security guards escorted everyone to their vehicles.
7:02 am: Dorin sent her location. She then recorded a voicemail in which she said that everyone had been evacuated, and they were waiting by the car. The interceptions did not stop, and she did not want to linger inside the car during interceptions.
From that moment on, Tali, called Dorin on and on and on and there was no answer, until about 8:00 am.
The family assumes Dorin was driving, yet she and her friend sitting next to her were shot to death in the car, while their friend who was sitting behind managed to get out of the car with Dorin’s mobile and hide.
Her friend used Dorin’s phone to call her own family and speak to them up until the point she was abducted, and eventually murdered.
Her family dedicated themselves to finding her, searching everywhere, dealing with fake information, facing horror stories from the festival survivors and clinging on the hope to find her alive.
Dorin’s body was discovered on October 11th.
Our hearts are with all families that lost their loved ones, their homes, their lives as they knew it. We stand with you and support you with all our hearts. EndoCure decide to honor Dorin’s memory within the Next October initiative.
